      No plans at the moment, sorry. The concept is that if you want real-time rendering, including raytracing, the ability to export to Vantage which is in the upcoming Corona 12 is the way to go ;) Thanks! Tom

    Hi Chaos Team - do you have a plan to add EDGE TRIM feature into ChaosScatter object itself? this way, it will just a ONE CLICK SOLUTION - instead of working on many materials of several objects adding that CS EDGE TRIMMING map

    You could've saved my life if you added this : Hey guys, always save your final render as an exr file before closing your 3dsmax, cause that resume render feature will mean nothing after that ! and you'll have to re-render everything !...

      As a note you can also set an autosave while rendering, which will save every so often during a long render, just in case there's a power outage or similar. This can also save some hardship! Tom

      @@ChaosCorona IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT. IT HAS NOTHING IN COMMON WITH THE ACES COLOR SPACE. The darks are to dark, yes i know to use tone curve or how its called. but its still shit. Even the the others filmic and reinherd look like shit when used. THIS RENDERER IT SO BEHIND.

      @@AndreiTheBadger Yes, it has nothing to do with the ACES color space, as that had to be supported within the native 3D applications (which it is now with the latest versions of Max and C4D, so support for that is coming in Corona 12). It is just the "sweetener curve" used, so that people can apply it to their images if they like it. Given that this is not ACES color space, are there any curve and highlight adjustments that you would point to as being more useful, e.g. ones in other engines? Thanks! Tom

    So Normal Map is not needed anymore? Everytime i get texture maps, i get AO and normal maps and I don't know where am I supposed to put them

      Oh no, normal maps are very much wanted, if you have them :) You can make an argument that normal maps contain more information in them so the bump effect can look more detailed - although it obviously depends on the quality of the normal map in question. Normal maps are supposed to be loaded into the bump slot of your material BUT before you plug it in there you should put the Corona Normal shader in between. So the order should look like this: Normal map bitmap -> Corona Normal shader -> Bump slot in the Physical MTL. Hope that helps! Nejc

    Hi Chaos Team, does RESUME RENDER feature auto saves the latest PASS into CXR file whenever there is a blackout? Because in Vray's RESUME RENDER feature, it automatically does

      The button itself does not, but there is an autosave feature that can be enabled and set in the Systems dialog, see docs.chaos.com/display/CRMAX/System+Tab . It doesn't save every pass, but every time period that you define - hope this helps! Tom

      Should be working fine - if it isn't working, it's probably not because of the animation. Best bet is to send in a ticket with details on what doesn't work, what the scene set up is like (or the scene itself), example renders showing what you are getting with a good description of what you would expect, and of course the ever-important info of which version of Corona and version of DCC - support.chaos.com/requests/new .     Can u guys make a tutorial about how to make drinks or cocktais in 3DS MAX? Like modeling the fruit (and how to texture them), how to make wet glass, bubbles on the liquid, foam, there's nothing like that on the youtube.

      Hi! Thanks for the feedback! Some of that would be outside our scope - we don't aim to tackle modeling at all, since that is a topic for whichever DCC you use (Max or C4D) and would be down to tutorials for that software. For bubbles and foam, that would be best done using Phoenix, and again that would be tutorials for that software on how to do that (should be some good ones there, since it is also a Chaos product!). As for the texture related questions, those can be added to the list of possible future topics. For fruit, see our earlier tutorial on Subsurface Scattering, which is a large part of making fruit look good, e.g. ua-cam.com/video/uewtBJuONe0/v-deo.html looks at strawberries in particular.       Howdy! Not sure what exactly you mean but if you simply resize the VFB window it'll change the rendering resolution accordingly. Or did you maybe have something else in mind? Nejc

      @@ChaosCorona i found it already default render resolution in the vfb is half your screen resolution. In your render settings, then system, then system settings there is a number called image upscaling factor which is at 2 by default (so it only renders half the resolution of your screen and then upscales it so the interactive render is faster). I changed it to 1 so it renders the native screen resolution in the interactive render. But I'm sure u guys knew that setting since you work for corona renderer 😉

    Most of the time, pre-made UVW map textures aren't available! 🤠 So, imagine tackling this exact same mesh table - starting the texturing process from scratch using PBR seamless maps and Corona's advanced features like AO and curvature maps on this Non-Quad mesh table. I'm eagerly anticipating a tutorial from the most supportive team among all render engines on this challenging level. Tnx

      most of the time some standard triplanar is enough, or the most basic uwv modifier, especially when you are using roughness, bump and displacement slots too, because you want to achieve an old fucking mess, not some pixelperfect brand new wooden texture so dont give yourself too much headache, man faking it is enough, and when you are doing archviz is more than enough

      Howdy! Personally, I typically try to see if a simple UVW unwrap can be done - that typically takes care of things like wood grain direction etc. If that isn't quite possible to do I'd probably start messing around with what user-hz4fj5xw2u suggested. There's loads of different ways to approach it depending on what exactly you want to do. For example, if you're dealing with just an imperfect looking metal material then triplanar method is typically all you need. If I may I'd suggest opening up a topic over on our forums (forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php) and we can share visual examples there plus we can obviously also go into more details. Nejc

      Hello! It is a photoscanned 3D model so all of the texture maps came with it (and are based on a real world object). That said as we note in the tutorial we do give ourselves a lot of creative freedom in how we are setting it all up so we get a more "custom" look. Nejc

    With the huge amount of beatifull scenes made by your users, the election of the scenes of this trailer doesnt make justice to the product. Maybe you should ask some of the great artists that are out there on social media using corona and help them make this time consuming animations. That garden looks like a 2000s render, vegetation doesnt look good.

The way the scenes turn out is primarily due to constructing the scenes based around showing particular features, which limits what those scenes can be - but we'll be changing that approach for our next release video so that the scenes can focus purely on how good they look :) Thanks!     Excuse me, In Vray, In "Diffuse", we used to control the percentage of the texture to color using the "Map" tab. Now in Corona (either physical or legacy), the level value controller is added, so when to use the level value and when to use the percentage value below, in the "Map" tab? same with reflection and refraction. I really got confused.

      Howdy! The "Level" parameter acts as a multiplier for your base layer color. So Level set to 1 means you'll see exactly the color / texture you're plugging into the base layer's color slot. If you lower the Level to 0.5 for example then you'll see the base layer's color become a lot darker. That's because you're essentially darkening whatever is driving the base layer color - regardless of whether its just a color or a texture. The "Maps options" works differently. In there you're basically deciding how much of whatever you're plugging into the the given slot is getting mixed on whatever is the existing value set in that slot. So for example, if you have a red color set for the base layer's color and then you plug in a texture map and under "Maps options" you set it to 50%, you'll be mixing 50% of the map with the red color. I can only speak to the Corona side - in order not to slow the development of Corona overall, we have chosen to focus on the two primary DCCs used for archviz (not architectural work itself, but for the full visualization aspect) which are Max and C4D, with no plans to integrate into other software.       I am not 100% sure what you mean by "include with Scatter" - if you mean build it in to the Scatter UI in some way, the answer would be no, since this is dependent on the render engine as it all happens at the material level, and Scatter works with multiple engines. Also it would clutter the Scatter UI for something that is not always required. And last, this technique goes well beyond just working with Chaos Scatter, since it is material driven and not part of the scattering process (which handles the geometry).     🤔⁉Corona team: At 14:15 in the clip, it sounds like you split (not physically, of course) the close mesh with volume into two thin planes by adding a Multi/Sub-Object map for the render engine input. How did the VolumetriC Effect for the GLASS COLOR work properly, since it looks like two thin surfaces? To me, it resembles translucency (with the thin layer checkbox enabled) instead...🧐

      Not entirely sure I follow the question, so do follow up if this doesn't answer things for you (also, if you are trying this for yourself and getting different results, it would help to see the renders, the material set up you are using, or even the scene, which can be done via posting on the forums at forum.corona-renderer.com/ or by sending in a ticket at support.chaos.com/requests/new ). Anyway, we do not split the geometry - we do select some of the geometry and apply one material to it (the dirty glass, on the selection of polys that make up the outside), and then apply the clean glass to the other polys. The object remains one piece of geometry, just some faces are painted with one material, and the remainder painted with the other. It also helps that the same glass is used for both - on the outside, it's the glass material layered with the dirt; on the inside, it's the glass material with no dirt layer; but both are the same glass material.       We'd need more information on the material set up, the scene, which version of Corona etc. - and screenshots and renders would be a big help too. Or you can always open a ticket at support.chaos.com/requests/new (has the advantage that you can send us the scene itself, without it being visible to the Corona community, because nothing is more useful in answering a question than seeing the scene itself :) ).     Here what annoy me too bad in a corona proxy lister is that it can`t change the previz type only for selected proxies an do it one by one or for all proxies in scene meanwhile the side proxy lister we all use before it came as standart feature in corona did it

      Any will work, and best starting point is the content in Cosmos since it is included with Corona and has trees, grass, and even some preset scatters too that include both the scatter and the models to be scattered. Hope this helps! Tom

      Hi! Unfortunately this video is very old, so we don't have any information on how long it took to do the AO pass here. As for your render seeming to be so slow, best bet is to open a ticket at support.chaos.com/requests/new where you can send in the scene for us to take a look at and see if there are any problems with how you have it set up, or post over on the forums at forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?board=29.0 (though sharing a scene there would make it available for the community so ticket is probably best...) .       There won't be a Corona GPU, sorry - the compromises in GPU even with today's technology is against Corona's focus on realism, plus to write GPU we'd have to completely slow down CPU Corona development for around 2 years (it is a big task to rewrite for GPU as things have to be handled differently due to the different hardware architecture). However, the good news is that for Corona 12 we are hoping and planning to allow export to Vantage, which is a GPU based solution, which will give a route for those who want a GPU rendering solution for some of their Corona scenes.
